Frecklebox Offers Personalized Gifts for Children
By Cynthia Cheng

Imagine your child or grandchild owning a book with their name laid out in pictures scattered throughout the book. There is such a book for all children, whether their name is Jennifer, Sean, Malcolm, Alfonso, Xiao Mei, Juanita, or Leonardo.

Thanks to the innovators at Frecklebox, a parent or grandparent can purchase a personalized book titled “My Name is…” for a child with any name. In each book, a child’s name undergoes image personification so that the name appears in numerous settings, such as flowers in the soil, birds in the park, and clouds in the sky.

“Kids love to see their name in print, and they’d enjoy reading the book over and over again. This book is a great way to educate kids on how to spell their names.” says Scott Feldman, president of Frecklebox. “All of our other products are personalized. We have a software program that personalizes every product that we make.”

Based in Santa Clara, Frecklebox is a web-based business that specializes in the production of affordable gifts with educational and entertainment value for children. Feldman is also the       co-owner of Progressive Solutions, a digital printing company that has been in Santa Clara for 18 years. As a parent, he recognized the potential market for personalized books and novelty items for children. Continuing to make advances in media production, Feldman launched Frecklebox in April of this year.

“Believe it or not, there is no product like this on the market yet,” Feldman says. “We haven’t found anyone who’s doing what we’re doing. There are certainly personalized books on the market, but that’s in text only. None of those books can take a kid’s name and spell it out in the unique way that we’re doing.”

As more people are purchasing Frecklebox’s products, Feldman is working hard to expand his company’s product line. Right now, Frecklebox is selling four storybooks. Three new books and two coloring books are currently in production. In addition to selling books, Frecklebox’s web site also displays an array of placemats, posters, journals, and growth charts, all of which can be personalized with a child’s name.

With the holiday season around the corner, Feldman has been busy producing puzzles with holiday themes.
“We’re going to launch personalized puzzles- it would be one of those sets. We’re working on holiday editions,” Feldman says.

“We’ll have a picture of someone of making sugar cookies and each cookie would spell out a child’s name. Another one is a set showing a snowman and the falling snow spelled out in the child’s name.”

So far, Frecklebox has been receiving a positive response from the parenting community. According to Feldman, mothers who blog, also known as “Mommy Bloggers” in the online community, endorse Frecklebox's unique and personalized items. Frecklebox’s web site also carries some testimonials from satisfied consumers.

“We’re constantly thrilled about what other people are saying about us,” Feldman says. “It’s nice to hear from consumers. It’s very fulfilling.”
