Chief of Police Presents Reward in Graffiti Apprehension Case

On May 2, 2008, Santa Clara Chief of Police Chief Steve Lodge presented Santa Clara residents John and Lupe Woodworth with a $250 check as part of the City’s Graffiti Watch Reward Program.  The reward program is part of the City’s comprehensive graffiti eradication efforts.

On March 17, 2008, John Woodworth saw a person spray paint graffiti on a trailer parked in his neighborhood.  John told his wife Lupe what he had seen and she flagged down Community Service Officer Rob Anthony who happened to be in the area.  CSO Anthony called police officers into the area and kept observation of the suspect as he left on foot.

Based on a positive identification by the Woodworths, Officer Tom Leipelt arrested the suspect.  The Santa Clara Police Department is grateful to the Woodworths for their assistance in solving this crime.
