Racers
Location: El Camino Real at Lawrence Expressway
There have been multiple problems and complaints associated with the recurring Sunday night gathering of hundreds of car enthusiasts and racers in this commercial parking lot. Consequently, forty-nine officers from seven different police agencies combined efforts to address this problem. Tonight, over 500 vehicles were parked in the parking lot while the occupants loitered. Officers handed out flyers to the drivers advising them of trespassing laws and of future enforcement action. Over 140 car stops were made for violations and more than 75 traffic citations were issued.

Child Abuse
Location: 2000 block of Avila Avenue
A 2-month old child was taken to the Valley Medical Center neonatal intensive care unit. The doctors felt the infant’s bleeding on the brain was the result of physical abuse. Officers conducted a thorough investigation and based on the totality of information, arrested the father. The injuries to the infant are not life threatening. The father was booked into County Jail.

Warrant Arrest- Felony
Location: The Alameda at Newhall
Officer Moyer-Olson located a vehicle that was associated with a wanted parolee. After brief surveillance, a person entered the vehicle and drove away. The officer initiated a car stop and arrested the wanted parolee for his $100,000 outstanding warrant.

Warrant Arrest
Location: 2300 block of Regina Court
Officer Gratny made contact with a person who was rummaging through discarded items in front of a residence. The officer ran him for warrants and discovered an outstanding warrant for drug violations.

Sexual Assault
Location: 3500 block of Granada Drive
On March 12, 2008, two adult males sexually assaulted a female juvenile. During the assault, one of the suspects brandished a gun and threatened the juvenile. The victim assisted our detectives with locating the residence. One suspect was located and arrested. He is a parolee and his residence was searched. Detectives found a gun hidden in the residence. One suspect is still outstanding, but the investigation is ongoing.

Attempt Kidnap
Location: 3500 block of Warburton Ave
An adult male suspect tried to physically remove his girlfriend from her parent’s residence. The victim’s parents intervened and were assaulted by the suspect. The victim was able to escape. The suspect fled prior to police arrival, but was located at his residence. The suspect was arrested without further incident.

Disturbance/Resisting Arrest
Location: 1700 block of Halford Ave
Officers responded to a condominium complex regarding an adult male attempting to break through multiple doors. Officers made contact with the agitated and disoriented suspect on the second floor and saw that he was armed with an open bladed box cutter. The suspect dropped the box cutter, but resisted arrest. The suspect was transported to VMC by ambulance because he appeared to be under the influence of an illegal stimulant.

Copper Theft
Location: 1300 block of Lawrence Expressway
A witness reported seeing three individuals removing property from a closed business. The witness also provided a vehicle description. Officer Leipelt located the vehicle nearby and detained the three individuals. Freshly cut copper piping and aluminum fixtures were located inside the vehicle. All three suspects were arrested without incident.
