Drunk In Public
Location: 800 Block of Kiely
The Department received a call regarding a shirtless man who was running in and out of traffic and acting strangely. Officers located the man inside a restaurant where he was laying on the counter yelling at the clerk. After taking the man outside, the officers discovered that he had been released from prison earlier that day and had celebrated by drinking beer. He was arrested for being drunk in public.

Hit and Run
Location: Intersection of Stevens Creek Blvd and Saratoga Ave
Officers responded to the report of a hit and run accident. The witnesses followed the suspect vehicle and observed it as it turned onto Maurica. After the suspect vehicle crossed Kellogg, it hit a parked vehicle head on. Fortunately, that vehicle was unoccupied. The suspect vehicle sustained major front-end damage and soon became disabled. The driver of the suspect vehicle was arrested for DUI and hit and run. The damage to the vehicle was so severe that it is possible that there was another collision.

Child Abuse
Location: 2200 Block of Ellena
Child Protective Services (CPS) asked that an officer meet them at an address on Ellena regarding a prior child abuse incident. A school had contacted CPS to report that a 7-year-old student had a black eye. Officers Lamendola and Mead investigated the possible abuse. The child stated that her father had hit her. Based on the circumstances, CPS took the child and her 3 siblings to a shelter. The father was arrested and later admitted to the assault.

Sexual Battery
Location: 3700 Block of El Camino Real
While on patrol, Community Service Officer (CSO) Anthony observed a man suddenly reach out and grab a woman on the posterior, clearly without her consent. CSO Anthony detained the suspect in a nearby lot, while requesting assistance. Officers responded, and upon questioning found that the suspect had prior assault arrests and was a registered sex offender. The suspect was booked at County Jail.

Burglary
Location: 3700 Block of Lafayette
Officers responded to a burglar alarm at a restaurant. Upon arrival, Officer Sterkel found that the back door to the restaurant had been forced open. The suspect had apparently taken cash out of the cash register and fled before Officer Sterkel’s arrival.

Burglary
Location: 1500 Block of Shady Glen Avenue
A homeowner drove past his house, which is currently under construction. He noticed that a strange vehicle was parked across his driveway, so he stopped. When he looked inside his house, he discovered a man who appeared to be attempting to steal a paint sprayer. The homeowner called the police. Officer Martinez responded and took the suspect into custody.

Assault With a Deadly Weapon
Location: 1100 Block of Reed Street
O’Connor Hospital called us to report that they had a stabbing victim in their emergency room. Officer Guthrie responded and spoke to the victim. The victim had an injury to his upper arm. The victim gave Officer Guthrie information regarding the suspect. Another officer, Officer Moyer-Olsen knew the suspect from previous contacts. Later that day, she drove by the suspects residence. The suspect flagged her down and self surrendered. The knife was recovered and the suspect was booked into County Jail.

Burglary
Location: 2200 Block of El Camino Real
Officers responded to the report of a burglar alarm at a grocery store. Upon arrival, Officer Marines found that the front glass door had been smashed. The burglar had entered through the smashed door and had broken into an office. Cash had been stolen from a desk inside the office. The burglar fled and the investigation is continuing.

Vandalism
Location: 4900 Block of Patrick Henry
A business was victimized by vandals, who ripped exterior surveillance cameras and lights from the building and smashed them. The vandals also damaged the electric access gates and cargo trailers. A handcart was taken from the yard and was left outside the property. An investigation is continuing.

Possession of Stolen Property
Location: El Camino Real and Los Padres
Officer Phan stopped a car because its brake lights were broken. He was advised by Records that the driver was on probation. While searching the vehicle, Officer Phan discovered several laptop computers. The passenger in the car claimed the computers were his. However, Records confirmed that one of the laptops had been reported stolen. Both the driver and passenger were arrested.

Weapons
Location: 1600 Block of Graham Lane
Officers responded to a man with a gun call. The person reporting the incident said that a 20-year-old male was pointing what appeared to be a 45-caliber handgun at another person. The person reporting also said that the man with the gun had the other person handcuffed and on the ground. When officers arrived, they observed the suspect tucking a gun into his pants. The officers discovered that the weapon was a BB gun, and that the two individuals involved were juveniles. Their aunt was babysitting them. All 3 individuals involved were admonished as to the extreme danger of their activity.
