DUI
Location: 2100 Block of Main
Officers were dispatched to the area of Main and Sahara to investigate a report of a hit and run accident. The report indicated that the driver continued to drive recklessly after the accident. Officer J. Green followed the driver, who crossed the center divider and was driving the wrong way on El Camino Real, and made the stop. The driver was arrested for DUI, and a number of vehicle Code violations.

Theft
Location: 3300 Block of Scott Blvd.
Unknown suspects entered a business over a past weekend holiday and stole approximately 2000 feet of copper wire. The estimate to repair the damage done by the thieves is over $10,000.

Theft
Location: 3500 Block of Benton Street
A man attempted to enter a convenience store where the clerk was mopping. When the clerk asked the man to wait outside for a moment, the man responded by punching the clerk in the face. This incident was caught on the store’s surveillance tape. When Officer Lagergren arrived and viewed the video, he recognized the suspect and located him under a porch across the street from the store. The suspect had dozens of gift cards in his possession which had not been activated. An investigation is underway.

Vandalism - Felony
Location:1100 Block of The Alameda
Officers responded to a report of vandalism at a business. The business owner had been advised by a customer that an unknown male had scratched a set of initials into the stores glass front window. Nearby businesses were also damaged. The suspect was seen going into the front yard of a house on Hilmar Street. He was located at that residence and arrested..

Grand Theft
Location: 70 Block of Cabot
The construction superintendent of a town home development currently being built reported that $10,000 worth of copper wire had been stolen. The wires had been cut from the walls. He also reported that a power box had been stolen 3 weeks previous to this theft.

Aid to Outside Jurisdiction
Location: 2100 Block of Laurelwood
San Jose P.D. requested the assistance of one of our narcotics detention trained canines. Officer Johnsen and his canine partner located several hidden compartments and a large sum of money secreted in the vehicle. The money is thought to be narcotics related.

Burglary
Location: 1700 Block of Laurelwood
A suspect entered his ex-girlfriend’s apartment without her permission, took her laptop and fled. This action was witnessed by a friend who contacted the victim. The victim returned to her residence and caught up with the suspect as he was attempting to ride away on a bike. The suspect tried to dump the laptop, but was unsuccessful. He was arrested for burglary.

Saturday, July 5th, 2008
Theft Location: 200 Block of Brown Avenue
An unknown number of suspects tampered with approximately 10 vehicles in the area of Brown and Monroe, and on Monroe between Brown and Amethyst. There was no forced entry into the vehicles, but the unlocked vehicles were rummaged through, the hoods were lifted and batteries were targeted.
