The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.

Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all of the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all of the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s home page (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the most comprehensive list of arrests made.

Warrant Arrest - Felony

Location: Monroe Street and San Tomas Expressway
An officer observed a vehicle with expired registration near Monroe Street and San Tomas Expressway. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop. A Records check was conducted on the female driver and male passenger. It revealed the passenger had four warrants (two for felonies) and was on active probation. A search of his person yielded drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Petty Theft

Location: 2000 Block of El Camino Real
The victim was shopping inside a store on the 2000 block of El Camino Real when an unknown suspect removed the victim’s wallet from a purse. A debit card from the wallet was later used at a store for a purchase totaling $524.22. Video surveillance captured the suspect stealing the wallet and exiting the store. The identity of the suspect is currently unknown however this case is being pursued by the Detective’s Bureau.

Commercial Burglary

Location: 2000 Block of El Camino Real
An alarm company alerted the owner of a business on the 2000 block of El Camino Real of an alarm activation. The owner responded to the business to find the front door shattered and then reported the incident to Public Safety Dispatchers. The suspect attempted to gain entry into the cash register, but was unsuccessful. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival and remains at large.

Location: 2600 Block of Homestead Road
Between 1500 hours on 10/4/16 and 0830 hours on 10/5/16, an unknown suspect(s) broke into a storage shed on the 2600 block of Homestead Road. Approximately $50.00 in items was stolen. The suspect remains at large.

Warrant Arrest – Felony

Location: 1600 Block of Hope Drive
An officer responded to the 1600 block of Hope Drive on the report of two subjects, one male and one female, trespassing in the complexes’ female restroom connected with the gym. Upon contact, the subjects stated they were homeless and spent the night in the restroom. A Record's check revealed an outstanding warrant out of the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office for the male subject. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Grand Theft

Location: Alviso Street near Franklin Street
At approximately 0155 hours, a male subject stole a bicycle valued at approximately $2,465 from a bicycle rack on Santa Clara University (SCU) property on Alviso Street near Franklin Street. SCU Security Officers provided police officers with photographs from surveillance footage of the theft.

The subject was seen riding a different bicycle away from the scene of the theft, while guiding the stolen bicycle alongside him using one of his hands. The subject then abandoned the stolen bicycle near the intersection of Park Avenue and Circle Drive. The subject was found hiding behind a car on the 2300 block of Park Avenue. The subject fled southbound before officers caught up with him trying to jump over a wall on the 2200 block of Park Avenue. He was taken into custody. A search of his backpack yielded burglary tools and multiple cell phones. A Records check revealed three active grants of probation. He was transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Disturbing the Peace

Location: 400 Block of Alviso Street
A loud party on the 400 block of Alviso Street was reported to Public Safety Dispatchers at 0029 hours. Amplified music could be heard from a distance of approximately 50’ away and there were an estimated 10 individuals inside the residence. There was not alcohol present. Party hosts were cooperative to police contact and the party was shut down while officers were present.
