The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge. 

Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all of the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all of the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s home page (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the most comprehensive list of arrests made.

Assist Fire Department                              

Location: 1000 Block of Clyde Avenue

Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Clyde Avenue to assist the Santa Clara Fire Department with traffic control. SCFD was on scene due to a fire in a townhouse complex.

Narcotics Investigation                              

Location:  El Camino Real and Morse Lane

An officer observed a vehicle with an expired registration tag traveling on San Tomas Expressway. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop at El Camino Real and Morse Lane.

The officer made contact with the male driver, confirmed his identity and could smell a strong odor of cannabis coming from inside the vehicle. The subject, under 21 years of age, was not legally able to have cannabis in his possession.

A search of the vehicle revealed evidence of cannabis sales. The suspect was arrested and transported to SCPD’s temporarily holding facility.

Traffic Accident                                           

Location:  Forbes Avenue and San Tomas Expressway

Officers responded to a single vehicle traffic collision on Forbes Avenue near San Tomas Expressway. The investigation revealed the female driver fell asleep at wheel and collided into a light pole. The driver sustained minor injuries and the collision caused significant damage to the vehicle and the light pole. There was no evidence of foul play and the driver was released from the scene.

Warrant Arrest – Felony                             

Location:  Police Building, 601 El Camino Real

A male subject came into the Police Building on his birthday to self-surrender. The subject had eight outstanding warrants; three misdemeanor warrants and five felony warrants. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Driving Under the Influence                     

Location: San Tomas Expressway and Benton Street

Officers responded to a report of a single vehicle traffic accident on San Tomas Expressway near Benton Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered the vehicle collided with a tree causing major damage.

Upon contact, the male driver exhibited objective symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol. The suspect did not satisfactorily perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and registered a 0.16% and 0.14% blood alcohol content on his Preliminary Alcohol Screening test. He was arrested.

Warrant Arrest                                             

Location:  2000 Block of El Camino Real

Public Safety Dispatchers deployed an officer to a business on the 2000 Block of El Camino Real on the report of a shoplifter in custody.

A Target Loss Prevention Officer observed a female suspect conceal merchandise in her purse, walk past the open cash registers and exit the store. The Loss Prevention Officer stopped the suspect outside the store and escorted her to the office. Approximately $300 in merchandise was recovered, as well as an identification card and debit card that did not belong to the suspect.

A Records check revealed the suspect had three outstanding warrants totaling $25,000 for her arrest. She was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

NOTE:            Officers performed alcoholic beverage compliance checks at several local bars and restaurants.

 

The California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) expects and encourages licensees to act responsibly relative to their alcoholic beverage license privileges. ABC educates licensees about alcohol beverage laws, and awards local law enforcement agencies with grant funding to help enforce the laws and enhance safety efforts. This operation was conducted with ABC grant funding.

Car Clout                                          

Location: 3100 Block of Mission College Boulevard

Between 1730 hours and 2200 hours, a car clout occurred on the 3100 block of Mission College Boulevard. When the victim returned to the vehicle, a window was broken and multiple items were missing from inside. The total loss was estimated at approximately $660. The unidentified suspect(s) remain outstanding.

NOTE:            While the officer was responding to the above incident, three additional car clouts were discovered (#18-1122, #18-1123, #18-1124). In each case, personal belongings (e.g. purse, backpack) and electronics (e.g. laptop, headphones) were stolen.
